"Cosy room in charming flat"
Airbnb homes, experiences, and places.
About the project:
Our project explores the experience of home on a peer-to-peer renting service Airbnb, one of the most popular tourism accommodation websites. Presenting a property as somebody’s home and offering a chance to live “like a local” constitute the distinctive features of the claimed Airbnb experience.
We would like to hear from you if you:
- ever rented a room or whole property on Airbnb
- advertised a room or a whole property on Airbnb
What does taking part involve?
A researcher will arrange to meet you to talk about your experiences of using Airbnb. If you are a host we would like to interview you at your advertised home. The interview usually takes about an hour and we will invite you to talk to us about:
- your reasons for renting
- how the listing is described
- house rules
- rooms and things guests have access to or not
- neighbourhood and how it affects the listing (multi cultural, diverse, quiet, lively)
- listing’s design and decoration
With your permission, we would like to take photographs of the advertised rooms. You can also choose to share your photos of the advertised rooms.
Everybody who takes part in the project will be put into the prize draw to win £50 shopping voucher in may 2017.
